Huawei partners with Imperial College London for a 5-year data science partnership

Huawei and Imperial College London signed an exciting 5-year sponsorship deal with a $6m financial grant to help build a new “tech hub” for the institution’s West London Campus. According to Huawei’s president of the Institute of Strategic Research, William Xu, the collaboration is in line with the company’s strategy to stay on the edge of data science innovation.

Unveiled at the 4th annual Times Higher Education Academic Salon, the long-term partnership will put Huawei at the forefront of science education. The tech giant will provide a 5G indoor wireless network and AI cloud platform to support the students and researchers of the Imperial Data Science Institute (DSI).

“Imperial and Huawei share a commitment to developing the next generation of big data technologies for the benefit of our society and economy,” describes Imperial College London president Keith O’Nions.

Huawei’s investment of knowledge and funding in this lab will empower some of the world’s leading experts to accelerate the development of next-generation big data technologies.”
